Torrevieja is located on the Costa Blanca just south of Alicante. Torrevieja was originally a traditional Spanish fishing village but over the years it has grown into a major tourist destination. Torrevieja has a number of beaches that have the European Blue Flag award which stands for cleanliness, safety and possessing all of the required facilities for the whole family. There are any number of water sports activities on offer here for people of all ages. The beaches here include Playa Los Locos, Playa Naufragos, and Playa de la Cura plus a few more. Torrevieja also has a promenade that runs along the sea front and is lined with restaurants and cafes where you can have tapas and while the day away as you watch the sun set over the Mediterranean. Friday is the local Market but make sure you allow a lot of time as it is extremely large or go shopping at the Habanaras shopping centre for a little retail therapy. There is also the water park located next to the marina where you can spend hours on their new rides. The golfer is not left out either as there are three championship courses with in a 15 minute drive of Torrevieja. If you are a nature loving tourist then why not visit the National Park where there are over 200 different species of bird life including the pink flamingos.
