Calblanque Nature Reserve - La Manga, Costa Calida, Murcia, Spain

If its rough and ready you are looking for then the untouched area Calblanque Nature Reserve is the place to head for with its sandy beaches, sandbanks, hills, salt flats and a back drop of rugged cliffs. All of these features are of great ecological value and not meant to be disturbed.

To reach this area head out of La Manga past Los Belones to the next signposted exit. This is a dirt road, so if it is wet be careful. This road takes you to the information center which is only open durning the summer otherwise you are on your own.

Don't worry about filling your day as there is lot's to do and see. First you can, as most people do, head straight for the beach for a stroll or a swim. Second choice is a walk up a steep slope into the hills of Cala Reona. Hopefully you put your good walking boots on as you are now on the front side of the mountain with its spectacular views. I hope that hights do not bother you as this walk is near the edge with spectacular drops, just don't get to involved taking in the views and not watching where you are walking.

We have ventured in one direction from the information center now the other way you can find the sandy beaches of Playa de Calblanque and Playa Larga. If you have had enough fun for the day then head inland towards Los Belones, if not and you are ready for more action, it's over to the nudist beach, along the rough coastal path, of Playa Begrete with its wide sandy beaches and caves.

When you are visiting on a day out from your Holiday Rentals in Spain, remember this is a rough and ready place, so no amenities, which means you need to bring all the provisions required with you. If you are looking for piece and tranquility plan your trip here during the off season as it is busy in the peak time. No matter when you visit this area remember this is a ecological site and should be treated as such so stay on the paths.
