La Mata: Beaches, Roman docks and Watchtowers

If a nice long sandy beach is what you are looking for then La Mata, officially called Torre La Mata, is the place to come to on the sunny Costa Blanca. There is more in the way of an open air street market held every Wednesday morning along with some brilliant bars, shops and restaurants. Be prepared to see some fantastic sunsets as La Mata is located at the eastern part of the Costa Blanca. An ideal location for a cheap family holiday

La Mata is well known for its outstanding port, the remains of which can still be seen from the beach in La Mata, called the embarcadero romano, or Roman docks. Further down the coast are the remains of the ancient watchtowers called El Moro and La Mata. They were used to warn the locals of an imminent attack by the Barbary Pirates.

La Mata has 360 days of sunshine a year and a average temperature of 18deg C.. It has only been in recent years that this area has been discovered by the tourist and become popular for Spain Holiday Rentals. This is because of the beautiful beaches, squares, walks, parks, gardens and other natural beauty spots as well as some other historical sites. Be sure to bring your sun cream and a healthy appetite as there are some top class restaurants located here for your enjoyment.
