The Costa Brava - Catalonia is a great destination for a beach holiday with the numerous beaches to choose from as well as the fantastic array of water sports on offer. The resorts of Barcelona and Sitges probably have the best beaches where you can do nothing except swim and sunbath after a night out in any of the many bars and restaurants located here. The tourist for the most part are English and as a result there is little problem with the language barrier as English is spoken in many of the establishments.
A little way inland, in the foothills of the mountains, you will find unspoilt little villages which gives you access to hiking, cycling and golf courses of the area.
The city of Barcelona is well known for its clothing industry and Catalonia food. The city centre of Barcelona host an array of different fashion boutiques which you can easily find. From your holiday rental villa you have access to a lot of Barcelona's history in the way of the Rambla, Collserola Tower and The Fountains of Monjuic, as well as many other sites to see.
Located 25 km from Barcelona is the beautiful seaside resort of Sitges. On your way to one of the fantastic beaches be sure to stop and see the Church of Saint Sebastia as it is worth a visit. The other attractions Sitges is famous for is the Carnival held every February and the night life on offer here is beyond belief, especially the gay bars. Sitges is like most towns on the Costa Brava - Catalonia and offers not only night life but an untold amount of daytime activities. If not lounging on the beach or sitting in a local cafe or bar watching the world go by you can enjoy the many water type sports on offer in Sitges as you will find all of the required backup facilities in the area for these.
Castelldefels is another holiday destination you should not miss with its beautiful long beaches to spend the day in the sun. Also while in Castelldefels you can have a stroll down the olympic canal built in 1992 for the Summer Olympics. Castelldefels will offer you a nice relaxing holiday but if you need a little retail therapy or a night on the tiles, then Barcelona can be easily reached by coach.
