You might ask what draws people to the
Canary Islands and the answer would be the
luxurious villas that have that tropical paradise feel. This would be due to the surrounding banana plantations, the clean sandy beaches and the numerous
golf courses dotted around the islands. Most
holiday villas are situated close to the beach giving you a fantastic view of the Atlantic Ocean.
Tenerife is the largest island in the group and includes many resorts, golf courses and a vast array of places to enjoy the night life. Tenerife has many high quality man made beaches, most of a fine black shingle or sand. These are mainly around the major tourist resorts, There are also secluded coves for you to discover and explore and inland there is the majestic El Teide, the highest Volcano in Spain being some 3718 metres. It is also third highest Volcano in the world, surrounded by the Teide National Park.
Lanzarote is made up from volcanoes more so that any other island in the group. Some people say it even has a lunar like landscape. For the nature lover you have got to visit the Timanfaya National Park for a close encounter with nature. Lanzarote is encompassed by fantastic beaches and home to traditional villages where you can sample a true taste of island life.
La Palma is probably one of the greenest islands in the chain with volcanoes to climb and caves to explore. In the centre of the island is where you will find the Caldera de Taburiente National Park for all of the nature lovers to enjoy. The main town of Santa Cruz de la Palma is worth a visit if only to look at the Spanish Colonial architecture on show here.
Fuerteventura is probably the quietest and laid back island in the group and is a great place for a family holiday but if you do need entertainment, there is plenty on offer. Fuerteventura is the closest island to the African continent and is well known for its fantastic sea fishing.
Gran Canaria is the place to party with lots of entertainment on offer as it is better developed and has more resorts to choose from. Not to be left out are the great beaches with all the facilities needed available. A must see during your visit to Gran Canaria is Las Palmas, a very busy city with lots to see along with Maspolomas and its magnificent sand dunes. The golfer will not be disappointed either with a number of courses to choose from that can be played at any time of the year.
