The 200 km of beaches which form the Costa Calida are nestled in between the Costa Blanca to the north and the Costa Almeria to the south. The ancient city of Murcia is located in the middle of the Costa Calida not far from the Mediterranean.

The diverse landscapes found here include lush valleys, desolate deserts and beautiful sandy beaches which makes for a unique holiday destination. There are modern beach resorts located here such as La Manga which are situated   next door to small traditional fishing villages. Many different cultures have occupied this area through the centuries including the Greeks, Carthaginian's, Romans and the Moors. The beach resort of   La Manga is located on a unique strip of land that separates the Mar Menor from the Mediterranean. The beaches of Mar Menor are safe for children to swim in as there is a gentle slope in the depth of the warm water. Lorca is a town of two parts, first and foremost it still retains its rich heritage but on the modern side it has a new commercial centre.
