Mallorca (big island) is a popular tourist destination and has been since the 1950's. It is the largest Island, as the name indicates, in the Balearic chain. It was once the inspiration to Chopin and Miro but now has the reputation as a spring break destination. If you are a history buff then the island has a lot to be explored including the 16th century church in Bar Abaco.
This is a place that you can bring the entire family to with its Marineland's dolphin and sea lion shows and the children's beach. For a day out there is an antique train that travels between Palma and Soller. This 17 mile journey allows you the time to relax and enjoy the scenic country side. Those seeking an active night-life will most likely find it in the resorts along the south coast as they cater to the young singles.
Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands, lies in the Mediterranean Sea off of the south east coast of mainland Spain. The flying time from most UK airports is approximately two to two and one half hours, remember that Spain is one hour ahead of the UK. The main tourist airport is Son Sant Joan located in the south of the island near the city of Palma and north of the resort of C'an Pastilla. When you get ready to leave be sure to arrive early at the airport as it is some distance to the plane from the check in desk.
